With the remaining money from the boot camp fundraiser, I purchased scarves for a donation to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson University. Thankfully, I was finally able to find a free day that worked for both Matthew Huesser, the Associate Director of Administration and Operations, and I to meet at the hospital in Philadelphia. Once in Philadelphia I met up with Mr. Huesser and his assistant Meredith Farrell. They were both so kind and welcoming and made me feel comfortable right away! After a quick tour of the facilities, we went to the local Starbucks to do a quick interview. I had never been interviewed before so it was quite nerve racking for me, but once I got started it was easy for me to talk about my passion for Wrapped in Love! You can read the interview here. After the interview we went up to the infusion center. There, I met the rest of Mr. Huesser's team and the cancer center nurses. They each walked me through what their role was in the center and gave me a tour of the floor. The nurses then gave me the opportunity to give out scarves to the patients. I explained to the patients what I did as they leafed through the scarves. The idea was extremely well received as it was with all previous donations. They were so kind and thankful, but every time the smile on the patient's faces makes it all worth while to me. I would like to thank the staff for helping make this donation possible. Stay tuned for Wrapped In Love's next donation to the Norma F. Pfriem Cancer Institute at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut!
