With the money raised from the boot camp fundraiser Wrapped In Love made two donations, one to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University and the other to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson University. For the donation at Hopkins, I contacted the Chief Administrative officer, Terry Langbaum, who expressed her excitement about the donation. In the midst of starting my senior year, it was difficult to find a time to go down to Maryland and make the donation in person. It was in the middle of my soccer preseason, ACT prep, college touring, and summer work. There were no free days. I couldn't even find a few free hours! I decided it was more important that the cancer center receive the scarves as soon as possible, so the best compromise was to ship them. I followed my normal procedure of rolling the scarves, writing and signing the note, and tying them with a bow. Because I was sending them in the mail, I wanted to add a little something more to the basket. So, I wrapped the basket in cellophane and found a big pink bow to tie it with and put it in the mail. My only request to the center was that when they received the basket in the mail, to send back a photo of it with staff members for my blog! (Check out the picture below). Within a few days, Ms. Langbaum got back to me and said that the scarves were already gone and the patients loved them. Another successful donation!
